After two grueling battles and one that was sure to come, the Queen of Night began to prepare for the battles to come. She was unwilling to compromise on the foundation she had already built. There were meal plans already in place to keep the health of both the King and Queen at an acceptable level. This had been something accomplished since the conception of the Princess of Dragons and had become the lifestyle of the household. These plans were what kept the Queen of Night in control. She needed them in order to survive the onslaught of children and life itself. She was unwilling to bend just because the offspring didn't like the way it looked. For years the King and Queen had been eating these meals and mostly enjoying them. They lost weight and kept a healthy lifestyle through them. She would not change to unhealthy means just to get the rebellion to eat one meal as a family.
With this in mind, she began sifting through recipe after recipe looking for something suitably healthy and enticing to the young generation. Countless hours after bedtime hours were spent. She gave up her free time, her only adult time to find something that might satisfy everyone no matter how the end result would look. We all know that looks were what mattered the most to the High Prince. If it didn't look good, he would continue his rebellion. The Princess of Dragons would look to the High Prince for his approval before deciding for herself because she knew that whatever he said would determine if it was edible.
Chicken. That was the number one goal. They would eat chicken if made right. Chicken nuggets were a staple in the house for two years until the High Prince finally tired of them. His desire for straight carbs now meant that pasta dishes would be good. Maybe even something that was on bread. How to hide the vegetables inside such a dish was a challenge. Cheese...There must be cheese but not so much as to endanger the health of the King and Queen. Could a fruit be mixed in somewhere? These were the challenges the Queen of Night was presented. She had worked too hard to maintain weight and keep her own very serious health issues in balance to let the brood change it.
After several hours fifteen new recipes were found to try. Nothing of the likes had been made before and hopefully something would actually be liked by all. The King and Queen would have to change their eating slightly. Meals would have to be consumed in smaller quantities, but hopefully because the content would have more calories, they would be more filling. This would only be the beginning of the battle. Even if only one meal met their approval, more searching and planning would have to be made. These meals would only last for two weeks. A daunting task just to keep up the battle front, but for the betterment of the entire kingdom. A sacrifice she was willing to make to save her sanity and to ensure the health of the entire kingdom.
