How Dare You Eat My Cookie!

When The War originally began, it had been established that there would be one day a week where everybody got to pick whatever dinner they wanted. That day happened to be Saturday. The Queen of Night wanted one night where she no longer had to worry about what she was cooking and who was going to be eating it. The Dragon King took it upon himself to make sure that the Queen of Night did not have to cook by venturing out into the countryside and recruiting some peasant to pamper the Queen.

Even though this new war seem to be a little different than before, the Queen discussed whether they would continue this trend with the High Prince and the Princess of Dragons. Not wanting to give up their freedom on Saturdays, they explained that the Spare Prince should be given a choice as well. When the Queen asked if this should continue every Saturday or just for the first Saturday in order to make sure that the Spare Prince did not lose too much weight, initially the High Prince said just this Saturday. However the more he thought about it, the more he saw that it should be every Saturday in order to make sure he ate at least one dinner a week. The Queen of Night decided to defer to the High Prince's judgment, and allowed the Spare Prince to pick his own dinner that Saturday.

One tear-free night have the Queen some hope. She hoped that the Spare Prince would suddenly see that it was a good idea to eat more food, but she also feared he would see it as a sign of weakness. Only another day would tell.

Sunday brought faith into focus and more soccer adventures. The Queen of Night prepared an extensive meal of roast chicken filled with homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. Hours were spent slaving in the kitchen while the children played mostly happily and the Dragon King rewarded his hard work toiling in the palace gardens by some well deserved time among the people of the kingdom.

The meal was planned to perfection. The High Prince and Princess of Dragons expressed their astonishment at the feast and excitedly are the meal when the Dragon King surprised them with a dessert worthy of the meal.

The Spare Prince was not impressed with the meal. He adamantly demanded nuggets of fish which the Queen refused. He watched as the rest of the family consumed their meal and excited chattered about the regal cookie he would receive if he ate his own meal. The time ticked by and he watched the High Prince and Princess of Dragons consume their delicious cookies. The Queen and King followed suit eating theirs right in front of the Spare Prince to encourage his own appetite to take control.

When it was time for the Royal baths, the Spare Prince watched in angry torment as the High Prince, Princess of Dragons, and Dragon King ate the cookies that were meant to be his. As the last bite disappeared, he gave in to the inevitable bath. He trudged up to the bath chamber, washed, and went to bed early instead of asking for a different meal. His willingness to end the day left the Queen in angry, depressed tears. It felt like a big loss. It felt like the Spare Prince had accepted that he would never eat dinner again.
