Pillow fights!

It was supposed to be a day of relaxation for everyone with a simple meal. Things don't always go as planned though. The Dragon King had no royal duties scheduled, but the kingdom doesn't rest. Instead of the relaxing day planned, the Dragon King ended up taking care of business most of the day. His lack of fun time with his children weighed heavily on him bringing his mood down lower. The High Prince always treasured Sundays with his father and waited rather patiently for the Dragon King to finish his tasks. Occasionally he would ask questions about what the Dragon King was doing and even tried to help him out even though that was pretty much impossible. His thoughts were solely based on getting the Dragon King to finish up so they could spend time together. The Princess of Dragons and the "Spare" Prince were taking naps per the Queen of Night's insistence. It was the perfect time for just the two of them. As the day wore on, it became clearer that this quiet t

Mashed Cauliflower Shepherd's Pie

The feast of Peasants! Once again it was time for feast to be had, and once again, it was time to rise up against the oppression and villainy of the Dragon King and his beautiful Queen. Would tonight be the night the High Prince and his siblings would finally garner a victory? Or would the King stand firm and crush the rebellion once again? Tonight's meal, common dish among the general populations throughout the kingdom: Shepherd's Pie! A perfect dish for the heirs. Meat, potatoes, cheese, and vegetables. Should be simple enough for the Princess and her two brothers. Unfortunate, but not unexpectedly, the begging and pleading started immediately. "Father! May we eat this with our most beloved of all condiments, Ketchup?" the High Prince pleaded. "Of course, son. As your mother and I explained before, you can season your meal to your tastes, as long as you consume it. That is all we ask!" The Dragon King responded, his displeasure at the repetitive na

Mmmm....Bacon....Mmmm....

This is it. The High Prince thought. One more dinner and I get my party. The Dragon King had said he had to finish every meal this week in order to get his birthday party. The Queen of Night had prepared an easy meal the night before knowing that spaghetti had been considered an ok meal in his eyes. He had finished that one with very little problems. Everyone, including the Dragon King, had praised him on finishing the meal in record time. Tonight, the Queen had said would be a very different meal and hoped it would be easy so that all her hard work for his party would not be in vain. The Queen of Night had prepared nearly the entire meal while he was away for his schooling and said that it would only take a matter of minutes to finish when the Dragon King returned from his official duties. The meal had no smell that he could discern, which bothered him. It didn't look like much either since he only saw a bowl and four pieces of bread on a tray. The Queen was nervous, but she k

Meat Loaf, Potatoes, and the Fight against Grandfather Time!

How Hard is Eating Meatloaf? Again that time came, and again the vile Dragon King summoned his family to the banquet hall for dinner. Again, the High Prince, the Princess of Dragons, and the "Spare" Prince begrudgingly sat around the table, the anxiety of another dinner weighing down on them. Tonight's battle? Meatloaf with potatoes. The most basic of meals, with a slight flair the Queen of Night was known throughout the land. The Dragon King, having other duties to attend to, stated the rules as normal. "Alright children of ours." The Dragon King began, "You know what is required of you. Consume what is in front of you. It's meatloaf and mashed potatoes." Immediately the High Prince butted in. "Father, may we have ketchup with our dinner?" "Of course son, you can have stuff to flavor your food as you want. However, you will still eat this meal." Ketchup was provided to High Prince and the Princess of Dragons. "Alr

Win a Million!

After the Penne with Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella debacle, the High Prince had successfully eaten the leftovers of that night and ate the plain spaghetti with meat sauce that was leftover in the fridge. He had no leftovers to tackle on this night. He simply had to eat dinner tonight and dinner tomorrow so that his birthday party would not be cancelled. He came home from his schooling wondering what horrible thing the Queen of Night had conjured in order to not suffer through another childhood birthday party. He had not expected...ANOTHER SPAGHETTI DISH! The night before had proven that spaghetti with meat sauce instead of just butter and Parmesan cheese was actually very good. He had loved what the Dragon King had prepared, but could he eat the crazy concoction his mother had come up with. It smelled good. It smelled very much like what he had ate the night before, but it was obviously different because this was being cooked in the oven. He was hesitant. The Princess of Dragons h

Penne with Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella

Penne noodles were the favorite in the land. The High Prince deemed all other noodles to be inferior and not actual noodles. Spaghetti was simply spaghetti, which were allowed to be served, but any other noodles have to be justified and would not be called noodles. Knowing all of this, the Queen of Night felt that Penne with Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella would be a great dish for everyone. Everyone enjoyed chicken on some level even though it would be pan-cooked instead of grilled and mozzarella was a huge favorite. The dish called for cherry tomatoes, but they were whole and easy to eat around. The amount of spices was a cause for concern. This simple dish that appeared to be something everyone might like was coated in leaf spices, leaving it looking like it had been dumped in the yard before serving. The Queen and King would have no trouble with it. The spices were needed so the dish would not be completely bland. The children though... The dish was served. Each child received

Mini Turkey Lasagna Cups of Deliciousness

It had become the habit of the Dragon King to tell the High Prince that he had to eat the entirety of his meal for two nights in a row in order to be allowed to have visiting dignitaries during the non business days. Such technique worked in the past, so the Kingdom used it again on this day. "Son, if you do not eat this meal, even though you ate what the Queen made last night, you will not have visitors this weekend and you birthday present will be delayed," said the Dragon King. "I'm heading to manage the kingdom, but I do not want to hear that your mother had issues with you when I return." The addition of the High Prince's schooling made it necessary for the Dragon King to establish such warnings before entertaining his kingly duties since both would not see each other until the banquet at the end of the day, if they were lucky. "Yes, father. Everything will go as you wish," said the High Prince. The High Prince and the Dragon King left for

Easy Cheeseburger Ring...errr....Loaf

The Queen of Night had always thought that things like hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets were what kids always loved. Spaghetti with sauce was another. She was unprepared for the level of hate of the word "dinner" that royal children had developed. Even saying the word had turned into a battle with them on everything unrelated to dinner itself. Suddenly the Princess of Dragons hated cheese and all things meat. She didn't really, but if it was in "dinner", she hated it. Trying another method of preparing cheeseburgers, the Queen of Night labored over a complicated plan. The dish itself really wasn't lengthy to make, but the wasn't sure how it was supposed to be assembled. The Easy Cheeseburger Ring was meant to be prepared on a pizza sheet and look something like a donut ring. The very look of it was something she thought the High Prince and Princess of Dragons would love because they loved donuts. However, it was not to be assembled as such. Th

But What About My Couscous!!!

The Queen of Night had a dream. She had the strange desire to try couscous just one time. It was a long sought after item from a story of her childhood, so she decided that it was time to brave such a delicacy. This night would be the night. Not asking anyone for their opinion, she set to work preparing the Chicken with Couscous and Orange. It was a strange dish. It called for a whole orange and pistachios chopped up. Not having ever ate pistachios before, the Queen had no clue what to expect. However it wasn't until she reached the mint leaves that she really began to question her choice. Mint was not something she liked to eat in anything other than desserts. She continued anyway having already prepped the chicken earlier in the day. The "Spare" prince demanded sustenance before the normal feasting time and so the Dragon King allowed for the Queen of Night prepare the feast before his arrival. The High Prince had boasted earlier in the day to the King Mother that he
