A New Battle Begins...

The kingdom had been calm and happy for quite a long time. It had appeared that the war had been won. While little skirmishes would occasionally break out between the High Prince and the Princess of Dragons and their meals, overall they were eating everything put in front of them. The kingdom was enjoying the moment of peace. Until one fateful day the, Spare Prince finally decided that he had had enough. It was a new school year and the High Prince and the Princess of Dragons were going to school. It was also a new soccer season of which the Princess of Dragons was finally playing. The Spare Prince wanted desperately to play but due to his young age, he wouldn't be able to play soccer for another three seasons. This did not go over well. In order to try to give the Spare Prince something to look forward to, the Queen of Night began taking him to a another kingdom to play with kids while she perfected her physique. This move was double-sided. The Queen of Night was indeed preparing him for the inevitable day that he would go to school in another year. It also was to serve as his opportunity to do something special for him. It seemed to be working...Then the Spare Prince decided he was no longer going to eat food.

After a week of giving the Spare Prince anything he asked for and that he loved, the Queen of Night got tired of him taking hours or even refusing to eat the food. Following the changed eating habits, the Spare Prince began to fight naps and going to bed at night. The Spare Prince no longer was falling asleep at a reasonable time at night either. This resulted in him keeping the High Prince up all night and sometimes even waking up the rest of the kingdom. The Queen of Night got so frustrated that she took the Spare Prince to the Royal Physician. The Royal Physician confirmed that there was nothing wrong with him; he was simply was fighting all the changes that had occurred. Since the Spare Prince was already fighting the changes that were out of his control and changing things for himself simply by his own arguments, the Queen of Night decided to eliminate his daytime naps. This would at least force the Spare Prince to sleep at night and allow the rest of the Kingdom to sleep.

The Battle of food with the Spare Prince was another matter. He had gotten to the point where he was refusing every option presented to him no matter how much he loved to eat that option. The Queen of Night got tired of this trend. She decided that it was time to wage was with the Spare Prince by making him eat the same Royal meals as the rest of the family to his big dismay.

It started with one night when all options had been refused and the rest of the family had ate mashed potatoes. Nearly every kid likes mashed potatoes and the Spare Prince at one point in time did. So the Queen of Night provided a single bowl of buttered mashed potatoes for him to eat. This battle took an hour and a half for the Spare Prince to scream and cry at the top of his lungs and never take a single bite. The battle only ended when the Spare Prince fell asleep at the table and the Queen of Night put him to bed.

The next night, the Queen of Night made a meal that the Princess of Dragons had requested. She wanted Texas style casserole. She requested it the week before and the Queen of Night happily obliged in making a meal that was healthy and finally desired by her children. It was a simple meal consisting of shredded potatoes, corn, eggs, hot dogs (which were really turkey sausage), milk and cheddar cheese. To the Queen of Night's ultimate delight, the Princess of Dragons ate her meal without any complaint and bragged about how delicious it was.

Unfortunately the Spare Prince sat in his chair screaming and crying for at least 30 minutes before even looking at the food. During this time the Princess of Dragons played happily with every toy in the Kingdom, showing them to her little brother in order to encourage him to eat his food. His screaming and crying ended, but he never did take a single bite of the food. He turned this time into playtime with his sister by goofing off and talking to her the entire two hours that he stared at his food. His determination not to share in the Royal meals was something almost admirable. His stubbornness actually beat out the Queen simply in the fact that he ended up getting his royal bath and going to bed without any dinner.

Tomorrow would be new day.
