After the Penne with Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella debacle, the High Prince had successfully eaten the leftovers of that night and ate the plain spaghetti with meat sauce that was leftover in the fridge. He had no leftovers to tackle on this night. He simply had to eat dinner tonight and dinner tomorrow so that his birthday party would not be cancelled.
He came home from his schooling wondering what horrible thing the Queen of Night had conjured in order to not suffer through another childhood birthday party. He had not expected...ANOTHER SPAGHETTI DISH! The night before had proven that spaghetti with meat sauce instead of just butter and Parmesan cheese was actually very good. He had loved what the Dragon King had prepared, but could he eat the crazy concoction his mother had come up with.
It smelled good. It smelled very much like what he had ate the night before, but it was obviously different because this was being cooked in the oven. He was hesitant. The Princess of Dragons had watched the Queen of Night preparing the meal and had declared, "I don't like spaghetti." True she had not really enjoyed many dishes that included spaghetti. It was not a real noodle after all. This one though had so much cheese, that it was hard to deny that it just might be good.
The Queen followed the recipe to the letter, but failed in one element. She forgot the sour cream. Would it still be as good? Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole had to be good even if it was only three-quarters of a million. Everyone would find out soon enough.
"Do I really have to eat all of tonight's dinner and all of tomorrow's in order to have my birthday party? The Dukes of Sand said that I had to eat everything because they didn't want to miss my party," said the High Prince.
"That is what the Dragon King has declared, therefore we will follow his rule." The Queen spooned out the food and placed it on the table. Upon seeing the dish, the High Prince exclaimed, "That looks like what I ate last night! YUM!" "It is a little different. There's actually even more cheese in the middle of it. I think you will like it." The Queen of Night said as the Dragon King examined the meal.
"This looks fantastic, my Queen." He ate the first bite and was amazed. "This is actually on the plan for the royal physician?" he asked eating more. "Yes, my love, but you cannot eat a more than what is on your plate," the Queen explained. The "Spare" Prince, even though he was not expected to eat the meal, seeing his father enjoying the feast came to claim the Queen's portion.
"It's great! I love it!" The High Prince shoveled spaghetti in his mouth. He struggling a bit to chew and swallow but mostly because of the different texture of the cream cheese inside of it, but no gagging occurred. The Princess of Dragons followed his lead, excited to be eating a meal that he beloved brother seemed to be enjoying. The "Spare" Prince ate his fill and left the table in record time.
The Dragon King left the table to take care of the royal grounds while the Queen watched her spawns eating this meal. It was not a fast finish, but they finished before the Dragon King returned from his other duties, surprising everyone. Even without one key ingredient, the dish was amazing. The entire kingdom was happy and the Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole has been marked as "Kid Approved."
